Does anybody know the weight of a Sportster engine and tranny vs. a TC88 engine and tranny? I'm looking to build a custom street fighter, and am having trouble deciding which engine platform to use. I was originally leaning toward the sporty motor, but it looks difficult to get above 100hp. I thought maybe the weight savings could make up for this.

I might add what, in my opinion, are the strong points of the 2003 and earlier models. Two very important things come to mind: 1.The earlier solid mount models were a lot lighter in weight. When they redesigned the frame in 2004 to change to the rubber mounted engines, they added as much as 75 pounds.

100 posts · Joined 2011. #7 · Jul 5, 2011. My '06 SG is quite noisy with the harley synthetic.. yes, the $12/ quart oil. I checked my oil before a trip about 1.5-2 months after changing my oil and i was so low it barely touched the dipstick. I put a whole quart and was STILL low.
